With over 36 years of liquor industry experience, George has been involved in the national wholesale marketing and distribution of liquor products. Having worked in senior national and state roles with companies such as Wynn’s, Penfolds and CUB, he went on to be co-founder and executive director of Concorde Liquor Distributors, later pioneering the launch of Independent Distillers into the Australian market, before moving into retailing in 1997.
George has served on the committee and as Chairman of the Wine Slashers group, the LSAV and has been President of the MGA Liquor Committee since 2008.
Angelo has had over 27 years’ experience in the liquor industry as a retailer, he first commenced in the liquor industry in 1988 when he purchased Graham Street Cellars in Port Melbourne which he operated along with a new store he purchased in 2010 Mascoma Cellars in Strathmore. During that period he served for over 10 years on the IBA steering committee and has served on the MGA liquor committee since 2008.
Frank commenced his career in the liquor industry in South Australia in 1983. In 1985 he joined the Coles Liquor Group. Frank held numerous senior positions in SA, WA, NSW and Victoria. Roles such as, State Sales Manager, State Manager, National Category Manager Wine, National Retail Manager Vintage Cellars, General Manager Retail and General Manager Store and Business Development. Now in his 32nd year in the liquor industry Frank is the General Manager Retail Sales and Marketing with LMG, a role he has held since February 2012. Frank has extensive knowledge of the industry across retail, buying, marketing, property and acquisitions, gained nationally and internationally.
Frank has represented the liquor industry on numerous committees along with being a previous board member with MSA.
Gary has been in the Liquor Industry for 38 years with his business, Highgate Cellars. He has spent 8 years as a Director and Board Member of Southern Independent Liquor (SIL). Over the years, Gary has also served on various Banner Committees for the Food and Liquor Industries. He is also a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Rita commenced her retail working life with the Coles Group and during her six years, held various roles leading into key buying and category management roles with both Coles and Bi-Lo Supermarkets.
Rita has also held key senior Trade Marketing and Account Management roles with L’Oreal Australia, for Target and Coles, before commencing with Foodworks as National Category Manager Non Food Products. In 2012, Rita became National Category Manager for Liquor and Tobacco and is currently Foodworks National Business Manager – Non Foods which includes Liquor, and has been a MGAL committee member for 3 years.
Rita’s numerous years in Retailing has enabled her in supporting FoodWorks Liquor Retailers in achieving strong growth year on year, in an ever increasingly competitive and highly legislated packaged Liquor industry.
Tony Ingpen’s family has owned and run the Mount Evelyn licensed supermarket for over 40 years, and is currently trading as a Supa IGA. Tony has over the years taken a special interest in the liquor side of the business resulting in him sitting on both the Victorian State and National IGA liquor boards, and has over the past 8 years severed as Victorian State Chairman. Tony has been a member of the MGA Liquor committee for the past 3 years.
Tony has a genuine desire to help create a sustainable independent liquor industry. Tony’s experience has given him valuable insights into government intervention within our industry, as well as the current and future challenges independent retailers face. Tony is committed towards achieving outcomes that are mutually beneficial to the consumer, retailer and suppliers
With 15 years liquor experience, Nick first entered the liquor industry in 2000 when he worked in Mt Beauty supermarket, he eventually purchased the Yackandandah General Store in 2005 and in 2008 invested and updated the store into a new Foodwork’s Supermarket. In 2009 he opened the General Store at Falls Creek and also manages the Bright Super IGA.
Nick has served on numerous Foodworks committees and has served on the MGALC for two years.
Has over 35 years’ experience across the fields of Hospitality, retail and grocery with time spent working in three different countries. For the last 11 years he has owned 2 supermarkets, Ashburton IGA and Southbank IGA Xpress in Victoria, and sits on numerous state boards and committees.
The Reddrop family has been directly involved in the supermarket industry for more than 40 years. Michael has been operating directly in the Supermarket and Liquor industry for more than eighteen years, owning and operating nine licensed supermarkets, mostly in Victoria. Over that time Michael has been a member of the Australian United Retailers Limited Board (FoodWorks), as well as sitting on numerous committees.
Prior to entering the industry in 1998, Michael worked for ‘Big Four’ accounting firm, KPMG, in Australia and other parts of the world. During his ten years at KPMG, he worked in numerous industries, including retail, banking, construction, manufacturing, and transport.
He remains passionate about an industry that continues to evolve and challenge and is committed to the prosperity of independent supermarkets and liquor stores, as they face sometimes overwhelming competitive forces. Michael is a Chartered Accountant and has a Bachelor of Business degree.
John has had over 34 years of experience retailing and wholesaling packaged liquor. Having 14 years as store manager with San Remo Liquor, he then move to ALM where he held the positions of Promotions / Group Manager, Operations Manager, Merchandise Manager and for the last 6 years held the role of Victorian State Sales Manager
